Advocacy (early intervention)

The Maine Developmental Disabilities Council has been advocating for strengthening Maine’s early intervention systems for years – both on a systems and a legislative level.

Our executive director, Nancy Cronin, was appointed in 2019 as Chair to the taskforce tasked with bringing recommendations to the Legislature about both the feasibility and process of moving Maine’s early intervention system for 3 to 5 year olds from the Department of Health and Human Services to the Department of Education. This work is ongoing.
