ANNOUNCEMENT

Support Broker Info Sessions

The Maine Office of Aging and Disability Services (OADS) is excited to announce a new job opportunity supporting adults with disabilities.

“Independent Support Brokers” are professionals who help adults with disabilities (the “Members”) understand Maine’s self-directed waiver services. Support Brokers provides skills training and guidance to Members to help them direct and manage their waiver services.

Support Brokers may:

  • Act as a “connector” to help the Member identify people, places, and ways that they can contribute to and belong to their communities.
  • Provide information and assistance to help the Member exercise choice and control over their community services and supports.
  • Help the Member identify, hire, and manage their direct care workers.
  • Assist the Member with managing their self-direction budget.

Independent Support Brokers are self-employed and can set their hours and schedule in conjunction with the Members they support. The pay rate is up to $68/hour.

We are offering virtual information sessions to explain the Independent Support Broker position in more detail and to answer questions, including how you may qualify for funding to become a Support Broker.

In the meantime, if you are interested

The Maine Developmental Disabilities Council (MDDC) has an upcoming grant opportunity to provide funding to individuals who become qualified to provide support brokerage.

If you or someone you know is looking for a flexible position where you make a difference, please register for any of the following virtual information sessions:
